2015 Trek Domane 6.9 Disc Review, Features and Specs - Bumsteads Bicycles

Dont endure. Conquer.

The Domane 6.9 Disc may use the original Domane mold but with heavy re-tooling around the drop-outs the take away is something significantly different than what we experienced with the original Domane or the Classics Edition.

Boasting Shimano’s R785 hydraulic Di2 disc brakes and levers adds incredible stopping power and single finger modulation, but when its combined with additions like front and rear thru axles, fender mounts, and a host of Trek specific proprietary features the Domane Disc easily becomes the most versatile machine in Trek’s line.

The amount of torsional rigidity provided by the thru-axles was surprising and eye-opening at how much flex there really is with a standard quick-release design. Otherwise, the 6.9 felt like a Domane with an excellent ride quality, thanks to the IsoSpeed decoupler that creates a pivot point between the seat tube and top tube joint in order to greatly improve compliance.

Contructed from the proven 600 Series OCLV Carbon frame, with race-optimised cable routing,Trek IsoSpeed decoupler gives you an incredibly smooth ride with exceptionally stable geometry and flawless gear shifting.

Grand Fondos, centuries, long rides on not-so-smooth roads? The Domane is your bike. Crushing the competition over Europe's cobbles? Well, that's Fabian's thing. And now it's yours as well.

Features /
Domane with IsoSpeed has it all: Blistering speed. Incredible race comfort and stability, even on the punishing pavé of Flanders and Roubaix. Don’t endure. Conquer.

400 Series OCLV

Ultra high performance, within reach. The areal weight range and modulus mix of 400 Series OCLV provides an exhilarating sense of acceleration and confidence. Proprietary molding process allows the creation of precise, extremely-tight-tolerance shapes required for the best ride quality and performance.

IsoSpeed decoupler

A technological revolution. IsoSpeed isolates the seat tube from the rest of the frameset, resulting in a doubling of compliance and comfort with zero performance drawbacks.

IsoSpeed Fork

It's a one-two punch: generous ride-tuned sweep and shape increases compliance for a smoother ride, and unique dropout placement optimizes the wheelbase.

3S integrated chain keeper

The 3s chain keeper is integrated directly into the frame. It's an elegant solution that provides flawless shifting even on rough roads and under heavy loads.

BB90

BB90 is the widest bottom bracket available on a road bike. This Trek-exclusive carbon BB makes the frame lighter, stiffer, and quicker to accelerate

Post-mount disc brake

Post mounting is the simplest, most efficient way to mount a brake caliper to your bike. Functions great, reduces weight, delivers smooth all-weather stopping to your road bike.

142x12

A more robust and confidence-inspiring rear thru axle, about 35% stiffer than an open dropout design. And now, a thru axle wheel change is actually quick and easy.
