2014 Trek Madone 2.1 is Worthy of The Madone Name - Super Aero and Next Level Race Technology

The 2014 Trek Madone is A Great Value — High End Design and Components on an Aluminum Frame

Road.cc “The Madone 2.1 is Trek’s most affordable Madone model and sports a smart aluminum frame with Kammtail Virtual Foil shaped tubes, internal cable routing, tapered head tube, PressFit bottom bracket and a Shimano 105 groupset. This Madone shows just how good affordable road bikes have become in recent years…”

Aerodynamics are becoming a key design concentration for many products, and it is fascinating to see that Trek has employed similar thinking in their entry-level bikes as they have on their top-tier race bikes.

The KVF uses a truncated profile, where the trailing edge has been chopped off to save weight, but which amazingly causes the air to act as if the trailing edge was actually there. Trek also packed other modern features into the frame, including a Press-Fit BB 86.5mm bottom bracket. This houses the bearings inside the frame and allows the shell to be wider, and in turn allows the downtube to be much wider. The result — a much stiffer frame.

The shifters and mechanisms are from Shimano’s mid-level 105 group. It’s solid, reliable, durable, and functional. You can adjust the reach to the levers by adding shims, the hoods are very comfortable to rest your hands on, and the mechs will probably carry on working for ages with relatively little maintenance. There are two deviations from the 105 groupset: The Tiagra 12-30 cassette and non-series Shimano brake calipers.

As is expected, Trek fills out the rest of the bike with proprietary Bontrager parts: Bontrager hubs on approved aluminum rims wrapped with R1 23mm tires, the Bontrager Race seatpost (20mm layback and one bolt clamping mechanism) topped with a Bontrager Affinity 1 saddle with steel rails.

The refined aluminum road bike that is the Madone 2.1 is definitely worthy of the Madone name, with a super-aero shape and next level race technology. Incredible ride, incredible value.

[Review] The 2014 Trek 8.4 DS Can Do It All!

2014 Trek 8.4 DS - Everything You Could Ever Want In A Single Bike

Many first time bike buyers and people getting back into the sport have trouble deciding between all the options available to them. Some may want a bike that is extra comfortable so they can enjoy their rides to the fullest. Others may want to get a bike that is light and efficient so they can ride back and

That's the beauty of a Dual Sport Bike. Not only is the 2014 Trek DS 8.4 light and strong, it's got a load of great features for the versatile cyclist.

First and foremost is:

Comfort

Trek has constructed their 8.4 DS to be one of the most comfortable rides you will get on a multi-purpose bike. They have focused in on the two areas that are most likely to feel the bumps of the road and the fatigue of the ride: your hands, and your rear end.

• Saddle — The highly versatile Evoke saddle is packed with features engineered especially for the demands of off-road riding. It's edges have been made more durable, its nose made wider (for comfort on more technical terrain), and Off-Road-specific Zone Density foam padding gives proper supportive cushioning. It's gender specific Contour Relief Zone offers extra soft tissue relief.

Don't count it out as a road saddle, though! The Evoke's light weight and Posture Specific Design make it a great choice for road riders who prefer a more upright stance.

forth to work. Still others may want to ride around town and occasionally ride a local trail. There are bikes that will fit all of these categories perfectly, and perhaps one of those is something you'd like.
• Handlebars/Grips —On this model, Trek included ergonomic Bontrager Satellite Elite grips. They take your hand shape into account for more comfort and greater control over the bike. The handlebar and stem are oversized to increase durability and control as well.

Front Suspension — Unlike the 8.1 DS which has suspension built directly into the frame, the 2014 8.4 DS comes with a SR Suntour NRX front suspension fork, giving you 63mm of travel and preload adjustable lockout. That means you can switch from full suspension; allowing you to easily pass over bumps or curbs in the road, or no suspension; giving you the greatest amount of power transfer and stiffening your front end for climbs and straightaways.

Quality Parts and Construction

•Frame — Gary Fisher style Aluminum frame using a lighter, sportier version of their Alpha Gold Aluminum frame.

• Hydraulic Disc Brakes — This is one of the best features of a Dual Sport Bike. 160mm rotors provide excellent braking power in all conditions — even rainy or muddy! They operate better than mechanical style brakes, and are easier to adjust. The hydraulic discs on this bike are manufactured by Haynes, their Dyno model.

• Drivetrain — The 2014 8.4 DS sees a few upgrades from the 8.3 DS. It gets a Shimano Alivio Crank and a Shimano Deore Rear Derailleur. The front shifters also get upgraded from Acera to Alivio 9-speed for a total of 27 gears.

• Tires — The bike comes specced with Bontrager LT3 700x38c tires, but the frame has plenty of clearance allowing you to swap for beefier (29x1.8") MTB tire without fenders. You can also mount panniers or racks easily.

All of these features can be said to make this bike the best for a variety of terrain. If you want a light bike that offers a smooth, strong ride. What else would you expect from one of the world's premier Bike manufacturers?

Trek Domane 5.9 and 5.2 Road Bikes Review

The Trek Domane 5-Series attempts to conjoin the stability required for riding over rough surfaces during endurance races with the stiffness that allows you to put down some power and accelerate when the time comes. It is a tough trick to pull off, but one which these models achieve admirably thanks to their carbon frames and intelligent geometry.

Trek Domane 5.2

The 500 Series OCLV carbon frame has been tuned for long distance races over loose surfaces, rocky terrain and tough cobbles. The higher headtube means that the geometry of the frame helps to improve comfort without forcing you to compromise in terms of raw performance. As well as allowing the bike to minimise feedback, the frame makes it easier to retain control and keep the rider in a stable, confident condition.
The Shimano Ultegra drivetrain is in keeping with this unshakable ethos and components from the same range are harnessed for the brakeset. The cabling has undergone a lot of work in the past few years, with optimisations made to make sure that each shift is as smooth as possible.
The seatpost is built by Bontrager and fashioned from the same strong, light and flexible carbon that makes up the rest of the frame. Bontrager also provide the Race rims and the R3 Hard-Case Lite tyres.

Trek Domane 5.9

Trek chooses not to mess with the frame-fork combo for the Domane 5.9 and you also get the same seatpost, saddle and handlebars.
The implementation of the Bontrager Race Lite TLR wheelset helps to reduce weight and dampen vibrations further.
Meanwhile the Ultegra Di2 drivetrain makes the most of electronic shifting technology to give you a professional level of performance from this well appointed enduro-racer.
The Domane 5-Series models take road racing seriously and help riders tackle the flat of the tarmac as well as the rougher stuff that awaits you off the beaten track.

Mens Fitness Magazine Names 2014 Trek Domane 6.9 in Top Ten Best Road Bikes

2014 Trek Domane 6.9 is Named in Top Ten Road Bikes for Serious Cyclists

Here's what the magazine had to say about the bike:

"Road bikes designed with race geometry are great for competition, but they’re typically uncomfortable on longer rides. No need to suffer, or to lose your edge—Trek’s Domane 6.9 sports an IsoSpeed decoupler that isolates the seat tube from the rest of the frameset for a more comfortable riding position that doesn’t compromise power transfer to the road. And it’s smooth and stable enough to power comfortably over centuries-old European cobbles, or your nearest potholed country road. "

The 2014 Trek Domane is claimed by Trek to be the World's best endurance bike.

Here are just a few of the reasons that the 2014 Domane 6.9 takes the cake.

Isospeed DeCoupler: The IsoSpeed decoupler isolates the seat tube from the rest of the frameset, doubling compliance and smoothness with zero performance drawbacks
600 Series OCLV: Over two decades ago, Trek engineers developed Optimum Compaction, Low Void carbon manufacturing process, enabling them to produce carbon bikes with consistency and quality previously thought impossible. To this day, Trek OCLV carbon frames are the best, most consistent you can buy.

Endurance Fit: As befits Domane, the world's most advanced endurance racing bike, we've developed the world's most comfortable racing geometry. Still racy, but with a slightly higher head tube. You're more balanced over the bike for stability, and your back stays more comfortable through the entire ride.

IsoSpeed Fork: It's a one-two punch: generous ride-tuned sweep and shape increases compliance for a smoother ride, and unique dropout placement optimized the wheelbase.

Power Transfer Construction: Get more out of every pedal stroke with Power Transfer Construction. This Trek innovation applies more of your pedaling power to the road by optimizing the head tube/down tube/bottom bracket/rear wheel connection.

StepJoint Technology: After molding each specific piece for a frame, Trek joins the "lugs" into a complete frame using StepJoint Technology, or proprietary method of bonding two carbon structures together perfectly, with no overlap, no excess carbon, and consistent tube wall thickness throughout.

Performance Cable Routing:  Trek's performance cable routing is highly engineered for unshakable precision and the real-world performance that comes from better compatibility with current drivetrains. Optimal routing through the frame provides flawless shifting, better braking, sleeker aerodynamics, and easier assembly and maintenance.

BB90: BB90 is the widest bottom bracket available on a road bike. This Trek-exclusive carbon BB makes the frame lighter, stiffer, and quicker to accelerate. BB90 also eliminates the need for extra inserts and parts in the bottom bracket/frame junction. Fewer parts mean a lighter frame — and a lighter frame means a faster ride.

Bontrager RXL IsoZone bar: Turns cobbles into concrete. Vibration from rough roads can cause numbness, fatigue, even loss of control. Trek's exclusive solution: integrated IsoZone handlebar pads that reduce vibration displacement by 20% while keeping the same ergonomic profile. You get comfort and confident control, with less additional weight than add on solutions like gel padding or double wrapped tape.

[PHOTOS] 2014 Trek Domane 2.0 Relased (Published on RoadCyclingUK.com)

The 2014 Trek Domane 2-Series Gets a Makeover

The Domane is Trek's comfort bike and uses the proprietary IsoSpeed decoupler; essentially a pivot between the seattube and toptube which allows the two to flex independently. The Domane was developed in conjunction with Fabian Cancellara for the cobbled Classics, and is well suited to the demands of regular riders seeking a combination of comfort and performance.

While 4, 5, and 6-Series Domanes are based around a carbon fibre frame, 2-Series machines use an aluminum frame. The seattube on the first run of 2-Series frames was formed by welding two tubes together to ensure the correct balance of strength and compliance but Trek have managed to overcome this by using double-tubing, thereby forgoing the weld and significantly improving the aesthetics of the frame.
